The Osborne Clinic
The Osborne Physiotherapy Clinic is one of the largest and longest-established independent physiotherapy practices in Newcastle, and in the North East region. As such, it is a centre of physiotherapy excellence with world class expertise in the treatment and prevention of all types of pain from sports injuries through to long term chronic conditions.
Wayne Farrage is a highly skilled and experienced Massage Therapist, having built this up over the last 24 years, and the last 18 years within the high pressure Professional Football environment.
He started his professional career working at private clinics around the Newcastle area. Whilst working in these clinics he also provided Massage Therapy at various sporting and physical events, for example; working at European Grand Prix Athletics events, world fitness events, providing massage for dancers at West End Musicals and on physically demanding TV shows. He then progressed to working full time in top flight Professional Football and has worked for a number of Premier League clubs across the country and now works at Newcastle United FC.
Wayne says, “During my time I have been fortunate to have worked alongside some excellent Physiotherapists, Sports Therapists, Masseurs, Sports Scientists, Osteopaths, Sports Doctors and other Health Care Professionals working at the highest level, where I have learnt a great deal”. His diverse experience has given him great understanding of the stresses on the body in various sporting disciplines, as well as the stresses put on the body by everyday life. Working at an elite level for this length of time has helped him fine tune his methods, and this has lead him to tailor his treatments to the individual, thereby achieving better treatment outcomes.
He also genuinely believes that, “skills and knowledge alone are not enough to progress in any career. I feel especially in this profession there must be a passion and desire to help people get better, this is an essential requirement to achieve success within the therapy world”.
Wayne started his Sports Massage education at the Academy of Sports Therapy and has strengthened his knowledge by attending numerous courses and workshops over the years and is now working towards a degree in Sports Therapy. Wayne has also just started a 4 year training programme to be a Feldenkrais Practitioner.
Wayne is affiliated to the recognised professional bodies within the profession; The Sports Massage Association, The Society of Sports Therapist, The League Medical Association and The Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council.
